Electromechanical Technician

Position Overview

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Electromechanical Technician is primarily responsible for the troubleshooting, repair, maintenance and process improvement of mechanical equipment, automated PLC’s, robotics and other computer-controlled equipment used to support production operations. Additional responsibilities may require working with project and utilities staff to support production needs and organizational initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs, preventative maintenance and troubleshooting for all electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems to support both production and non-production related equipment in accordance with established standards.
  • Ability to troubleshoot programmable device configurations and systems hardware to resolve maintenance issues.
  • Focus to improve equipment reliability, minimize equipment downtime and support improvement activities for productivity and yield enhancement.
  • Assist in the execution of process validation, tooling or package development testing to support organizational efficiency and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineering and other cross functional groups to ensure equipment downtime is communicated in a timely fashion and that decisions are in alignment with productions needs and overall company initiatives.
  • Adequately document all work in company computerized maintenance management system to ensure complete compliance with company policies and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and plant safety standards and with applicable regulatory requirements while following the company’s Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 5 years of electromechanical experience ideally, but not required, in a food or beverage industry environment
  • Demonstrated mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and controls aptitude and abilities to analyze a wide variety of equipment to troubleshoot problems and assess maintenance needs
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of electrical, mechanical and controls aspects of factory automation systems and the integration of the devices used.
  • Working knowledge of electrical circuits, PLC troubleshooting, repair and programming.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical P&ID drawings, and applied knowledge operating systems up to 3Ph and 480Vac
  • Demonstrated detail orientation, self-motivation skills and ability to stay on task in a high demand environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats
  • Proficient using a PC, ideally using Microsoft Office programs
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Electromechanical Technology or related field
  • Previous experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Journeyman certification a plus but not required
