Maintenance Manager

Reporting to Sr Director of Maintenance & Engineering, the Maintenance Manager is primarily responsible for development and execution of the overall maintenance strategy for the organization. The Maintenance Manager will maintain a three-year plan for maintenance excellence based on seven strategic pillars including: Cost Deployment; Hire and Train Core Competencies; Autonomous Maintenance; Preventive Maintenance; Spare Parts Strategy, Predictive Maintenance; Asset Care.

This position will provide critical technical and direct operational guidance to all aspects of the manufacturing and support operations through the consistent demonstration of the company core values of Safety, Quality, Teamwork, Communication, respect, and Continuous Improvement, and is accountable for the resulting operational capability of the operation with respect to mechanical uptime, mechanical availability, overall cost to operate, and OEE of the plant operations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize and control preventative and predictive maintenance programs. Ensure the effective planning and scheduling of all equipment/system PM's, calibrations and other repair activities are consistent with safety, quality and operating procedures and standards.
  • Directly lead and develop the capability and performance of the team of direct reports responsible for the effective realization of the plant’s maintenance programs.
  • Track and report all costs associated with maintenance activities. Review all work order schedules and monitor performance and time associated with both planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
  • Lead spares planning/strategies that minimize equipment downtime and inventory costs.
  • Manage root cause analysis/problem solving process on mechanical/electrical issues and eliminate reoccurrences.
  • Develop and monitor specific reliability and capability KPI’s associated with improved OEE and process throughput.
  • Develop and maintain deterioration prevention procedures for all processes, machines, and subsidiary equipment.
  • Research, plan, and prepare proposals for equipment and machinery modifications that will reduce downtime, allow for more efficient utilization and still maintain standards for safety and quality, and support the design and installation and initial startup of new equipment processes providing training plans and resources as needed.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing leadership to develop, recommend and implement training & educational programs/events designed to create and sustain a culture of autonomous maintenance and continuous improvement.
  • Instill a culture of continuous improvement based on the disciplined application of systematic problem solving, quality improvement, and lean manufacturing tools and processes.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and development of plant management team around best practice Lean manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles.
  • Review performance of the department and personnel against approved objectives, budgets and plans, and take necessary corrective actions.
  • Work with engineering, manufacturing (and others as required) to review, develop, and implement innovative changes, actions, and decisions that will reduce cost, save time and/or provide a safer work environment for all employees.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and plant safety standards and with applicable regulatory requirements while following the company’s Good Manufacturing Processes, Safe Quality Foods and Other duties as assigned.
