Position Overview
Reporting to the FSQ Manager, the FSQ Supervisor is primarily responsible for playing a leadership role and supervising all food safety and quality assurance routines, performance, and its continuous improvement within Southeast plant operations. The FSQ Supervisor is also responsible for the supervision, development, planning and continuous evaluation of the performance of a team of FSQ Technicians.
Job Responsibilities
People Supervision:
- Support the FSQ Manager in building a team of employees working in a collaborative environment, fostering a culture of accountability, empowerment, continuous improvement, customer focus and teamwork.
- Supervise, develop, plan, and continuously evaluate performance of FSQ Techs.
- Schedule and supervise work and training of FSQ Technicians.
- Provide on-the-job training to FSQ technicians, as needed.
Food Safety:
- Provide technical support and play key leadership role across Gehl Foods’ HACCP, GMP, and Internal Audit teams.
- Supervise CCP monitoring activities and review respective records, to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Support the FSQ department in overseeing and ensuring that all instruments associated to CCPs are calibrated as scheduled.
- Supervise and drive compliance of GMP procedures and routines in plant operations.
- Provide technical support and leadership in resolution of CAPA reports associated to major process deviations, hold events of finished products, and customer complaints within the Food Safety categories.
- Coordinate monitoring, verification and validation activities within the HACCP Plans and Pre-Requisite Programs.
- Contribute to the development of training resources and delivery of Food Safety training program.
- Provide technical support to Change Control activities impacting food safety.
- Provide technical support and leadership to the Food Safety aspects of the Gehl Foods’ Stage & Gate process.
- Provide technical support and play key leadership role in the coordination of monitoring, verification, validation, effectiveness and efficiency of Sanitation Controls and Allergen Controls practices.
- Coordinate the execution of monitoring, verification, and validation routines within the Food Safety Management System.
- Provide technical support and document standard operating procedures and work instructions, as needed.
- Execute and coordinate effective and timely execution of pre-operation inspections of manufacturing equipment by FSQ Technicians.
- Contribute to the tracking, reporting and communication of the performance of Food Safety KPIs.
- Contribute and provide technical support during 3rd party Food Safety and Regulatory audits and inspections.
- Contribute to the CAPA reports associated to 3rd party Food Safety and Regulatory audits and inspections.
- Other duties as assigned.
Quality:
- Execute and supervise the execution of routines associated to the Quality Monitoring Plans across manufacturing lines and Business Units.

- Execute and supervise activities associated to the evaluation, standardization, and approval of batches of products to be processed.
- Contribute and provide technical leadership during 3rd party Quality audits.
- Contribute to the CAPA reports associated to 3rd party Quality audits.
- Provide technical support and leadership to the Quality aspects of the Gehl Foods’ Stage & Gate process.
- Provide technical support and leadership in resolution of CAPA reports associated to major process deviations, hold events of finished products, and customer complaints within the Quality categories.
- Contribute to the tracking, reporting and communication of the performance of Quality KPIs.
- Provide support to FSQ Manager in determining disposition to Hold events of finished products.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma
- 3 years of leadership and people supervision in food or beverage manufacturing or demonstrated leadership skills in previous roles.
- 5 years of work experience in food or beverage manufacturing, preferably a combination of Quality, Food Safety and Production roles.
- Knowledge and experience of food or beverage testing and laboratory operations.
- Practical experience in developing and implementing Quality, Food Safety, and GMP programs and systems.
- Practical experience and training in HACCP.
- Ability to enforce Quality and Food Safety policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated people leadership, coaching and team building experience.
- Ability to adapt to changing operational and organizational needs; ability to lead others through change.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PP)
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity.
- Ability and means to travel if needed; must possess a valid driver’s license and proof of valid insurance including liability and property damage coverage
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, Engineering, or Chemistry.
- Experience with aseptic processing and packaging of food or beverage products.
- Completion of “Better Process Control School – Aseptic Packaging”
- Six Sigma Certification

Working Conditions
Regularly exposed to wet and varying temperature conditions between 60-100 degrees Fahrenheit, loud noise, moving machinery parts, airborne particles, allergens including but not limited to soy, tree nuts, milk and milk by-products; and fumes from food processing equipment.
