Field Service Engineer

Department: Engineering
Office: Remote

Shift: 1st Shift

Position Overview

The Field Service Engineer is responsible for providing on-site and remote support for various low-acid aseptic processing, filling, and packaging assets. Tasks are a combination of planned and scheduled preventative work, breakdown support, installation / commissioning support, and training of local training of local technicians. This role is primarily travel-based, covering facilities in California, South Carolina, and Wisconsin. A high degree of schedule and travel flexibility is required to be successful in this position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, service and repair a variety of low-acid aseptic processing, filling, and packaging equipment
  • Utilize, update, and create detailed work instructions for service tasks
  • Meticulously document issues and repairs performed to maintain compliance with applicable local procedures and regulatory agencies
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems such as PLC programs, motor VFD's and other electronic systems.
  • Exceptional mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and high quality of work standards
  • Knowledgeable of all different Electrical power profiles and able to troubleshoot effectively
  • Create, organize, and maintain documentation related to aforementioned items
  • Operate effectively with minimal supervision
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • 75%+ travel is required for this position

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A strong command of the English language (written & oral)
  • 5 years’ experience in the following:
    • Thermal processing and packaging (Pasteurization, HTST, UHT, bag-in-box, FFS, bottles, aseptic cans, Tetra Pak cartons)
    • Electrical Instrumentation and calibration.
    • Automation troubleshooting
    • Electrical and PLC documentation reading and writing.
    • Safe working knowledge related to electrical and mechanical activities
    • Computer Applications knowledge for Word, spreadsheets, and charting.
    • Training in electrical, electronics and programmable logic controllers.
    • Experience variable frequency drives and motion control.
  • Analog and digital circuitry.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications from an accredited program in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, and / or Automation
  • Specific, in-depth technical knowledge and expertise with Tetra Pak, JBT/Stork, APS, Liquibox, Inpaco, or Combibloc
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical operation and optimization of Food Process and Packaging systems.
  • Experience in Aseptic Processing and Packaging Systems..
  • Knowledge of FDA Rules and Regulations
  • Fluency in Spanish
