Inventory Planner

Department: MFG Support
Office: Remote
Location:
Shift: 1st Shift

Position Summary:

The Inventory Planner is responsible for ensuring we have the right amount of inventory to ensure efficient production, great service to our customers, and strong cash flow across the organization’s food and beverage production and distribution operations. This role supports planning, forecasting, operational execution, and customer satisfaction by analyzing inventory data, managing inventory parameters, ensuring compliance with those parameters, and overall ensuring we have the right amount in stock. They will also assist Operations and Finance to ensure our inventory is accurate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitors and analyzes inventory levels across all production and warehouse facilities.
  • Manages inventory to meet service level need.
  • Reviews stock holding levels.
  • Minimizes the costs of handling the goods at various points in the supply chain.
  • Maintains targets including excess stock, slow moving, on hold, and obsolete.
  • Updates and maintains the ERP system’s inventory parameters.
  • Generates regular inventory performance reports.
  • Optimizes inventory turnover and reduces holding costs.
  • Ensures accurate data entry in inventory management systems.
  • Supports inventory audits and cycle counts.
  • Investigates inventory discrepancies and identify root causes of variances.
  • Collaborates with production, procurement, quality assurance, and warehouse teams to ensure inventory transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Develops and maintain inventory-related reporting and dashboards to support business decision-making.
  • Supports inventory planning, forecasting, and material availability analysis.
  • Assists in implementation and continuous improvement of inventory control procedures and best practices.
  • Maintains master data integrity related to item setup, units of measure, and location attributes.
  • Key KPIs include:
    • Weeks on hand for finished product, WIP / Brites, packaging, and raw materials
    • Inventory write offs
    • Inventory age
    • Cycle count accuracy
    • Service
    • Line efficiency

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in inventory control, supply chain, or operations analysis, preferably in a food or beverage manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proficiency with Excel and ERP / WMS systems.
  • Experience with data visualization or BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across functions and levels.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily office-based with regular presence in manufacturing or warehouse environments.
  • May require occasional evening or weekend hours during inventory counts or audits.
  • Some travel between facilities may be required.
